Birds singing and early morning

What is it about birds singing in the early morning at this time of year that sounds so great? I can hear seagulls crying and thrushes singing, it sounds great, real music for the soul. Have not heard any coo-coeing yet, they must not be awake yet. I'm going to rise and go for an early morning stroll while I watch the day awaken 
