Broccoli - it's the little things ...

And there we have it. The first sign of the vegetable broccoli as we know it, from the planting just when kids were on the back to school to now. 

It is the first of plenty. The fact that this plant has produced a small head doesn't worry me. It's the side shoots we really want, and over the next six months or so, this plant and it's companions will generate enough side shoots for a couple of meals per week.
