May 2011 produce from Hugh's garden

I've been busy in the garden over the last month, sowing and growing, and been rewarded for my toil with the fresh fragrance of recently flowered sweet pea and the delicous taste of early strawberries, fantastic !! My highly scented english rose has also come into bloom, how fitting with Queen Elizabeth visiting, perhaps she'll drop by ;o) I have to say my Japanesse maple, Acer palmatum aureum is looking particularly good, very fresh yellow foliage dressing the branches, very pleasing. Tomorrow I'll continue to harden off the broad beans, to get them read for planting out, and I'm going to directly sow a second batch straight into the prepared soil.
